My Motto: Just Make It
My mom was a maker, and I have tried to follow in her footsteps. I have been sewing and creating since I was about 8, my mom was a crazy-talented artist/weaver/sewist/mom/teacher… (you get the idea!) and I remember her making all my costumes and many of my clothes. My mother-in-law introduced me to quilting – which suits me more than making clothes as sometimes I have trouble sewing in 3-D.
During and after college, I worked for my mother’s luggage company, in sales and making prototypes of her antique reproduction bags before becoming a middle-school math teacher (yes, I am crazy!).
For the last seven years, I have had the privilege of working for Aurifil USA as a Projects and Events Manager. I loved working with all our amazing partners and felt in might be time to strike out on my own.
I still use my 50-year-old Kenmore sewing machine from time but also have a lot of fun with all the other machines in my collection - I love to create with several quilting techniques in addition to going back to my bag-making roots…I am truly a maker at heart!
